First Call for Papers and Posters:
2018 UPAC Winter Meeting
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The UPAC Executive Committee is busy planning the 2018 Winter UPAC Meeting which will be held in Ogden, Utah on February 8th, 9th, and 10th 2018. The 2018 meeting will roughly coincide with the sesquicentennial of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad which finalized at Promontory Point, just outside of Ogden in 1869. In celebration of this major event in Utah history, the Golden Spike Sesquicentennial will be the theme of the conference. Papers and posters related to the archaeology of railroads and transportation are encouraged. While the upcoming meeting will have a specific theme, all papers and posters will be accepted.
To encourage young archaeologists to engage with the UPAC community and share their archaeological work and interests, we are also facilitating student paper and poster contests. Undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to participate. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top student papers and student posters. More details will be provided to university anthropology departments, and on the UPAC website and Facebook.
Please submit abstracts for papers and posters at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/11rSTWTJC1xLoQ1mRoRKdLe8gkrdBOx4zntN7rJdqMQQ/edit?ts=5a0cc094 by January 15, 2018. Just as a reminder, lead authors for papers and posters must be current UPAC members. Membership dues can be paid online at www.upaconline.org or to the UPAC treasure (Arie Leeflang) at the time of the meeting.
